Stephen J. Jarvie, DDS · Novi, Michigan

He decided at eleven.

Most people arrive at a career. Dr. Jarvie picked his in grade school and never revised the plan — a University of Michigan dental degree in 1992, and more than thirty years in the same profession since.

Care Philosophy

“Evidence-based clinical dentistry with an emphasis on overall health and cosmetics. We believe we can give you the best dental care possible.”

Dr. Stephen J. Jarvie, DDS

The Story

Scotland,
then Michigan.

Michigan State University, 1988 University of Michigan DDS, 1992

Dr. Jarvie's parents emigrated from Scotland in the 1960s to work in the automotive industry, and he grew up in Michigan — the state he has now practised in for over three decades.

He has always wanted to be a dentist. He chose the profession at age eleven and has never done anything else.

An undergraduate degree from Michigan State University came in 1988, followed by a doctoral degree in dentistry from the University of Michigan in 1992. Everything since has been continuing education — a great deal of it, every year, deliberately.

He is affiliated with the Michigan Dental Association, the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Academy of Facial Esthetics, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and the Oakland County Dental Society. He holds hospital affiliations with Ascension Providence Hospital–Southfield Campus and DMC Huron Valley–Sinai Hospital.

He practises as Stephen J. Jarvie DDS PC at East Brooke Dental in Novi, alongside a periodontist and a restorative dentist — a combined eighty years of experience at one address.

What He Does

General dentist by licence.
Cosmetic by specialty.

Thirty years in one profession means the routine work is genuinely routine — and it buys the room to have gone deep on a few things most general dentists refer out.

27 years

Invisalign

Dr. Jarvie has offered Invisalign for over 27 years and is one of Invisalign's Preferred Providers — a virtually invisible way to straighten teeth without braces, wires or brackets.

Clear aligners are changed roughly every two weeks, with visits about every six weeks. Using 3-D technology, the plan is predetermined, so you see the outcome before you begin.

  • Crowded or widely spaced teeth
  • Overbites, underbites, crossbites
  • Removable — eat, drink, brush and floss normally
Since 2015

Six Month Smiles

Tooth-coloured brackets and wires that focus only on the teeth showing in your smile — which is why treatment finishes in about six months rather than one to two years.

Teeth are not moved faster or with more force. Traditional orthodontics takes longer because it also perfects the bite in the back teeth; this stops once the front teeth are cosmetically right.

10+ years

BOTOX®, Fillers & TMJ

Head, jaw and neck pain very often originates in dental occlusion and the chewing muscles — and is frequently misdiagnosed, then treated with irreversible dental work or narcotics.

Dr. Jarvie was one of the first dentists in Michigan certified in this area and has treated hundreds of patients. BOTOX® therapy reduces clenching frequency and intensity, relieves tension headaches and migraines, and protects teeth, gums and the jaw joint from further damage.

  • Certified AAFE Level I (2012) and Level II (2017)
  • Dermal fillers including Juvederm™
  • Cosmetic application as a beneficial side effect
Cosmetic

Smile Makeovers

Porcelain veneers offer the ultimate in esthetics — a thin facing bonded to the natural tooth, and a far more conservative alternative to a crown.

Bonding is the lower-cost route for closing gaps and repairing chips, and it demands genuine artistic skill. Whitening runs from KöR® Deep Bleaching through laser, Opalescence and Philips Zoom!

  • Porcelain veneers and Lumineers
  • Composite bonding and cosmetic contouring
  • Four professional whitening systems
Since 2019

Dental Sleep Medicine

A dentist can help manage grinding, snoring and sleep apnea. The home monitor tests for all three at once, in your own bed — no sleep lab, results the next day.

If you're tired, low on energy or snoring, the test is simple and the treatment can transform how you feel.

Foundation

General & Restorative

The everyday work that thirty years makes unremarkable: cleanings, fillings, crowns and bridges, dentures, root canals, extractions, sealants and mouthguards.

He has also built a periodontal program that has helped many patients avoid tooth loss and maintain healthier bone levels — gentle, comprehensive non-surgical gum care.

WOW is what your experience is with Dr Jarvie and his staff. Such a nice, clean, friendly environment. Very knowledgeable, but not pushy. They work to make you comfortable, and if you're like me and don't care for the dentist visits, this practice definitely puts your anxiety at ease, every time. Thank you to all of you at East Brooke Dental!

This office has friendly staff and great hygienists! Dr. Jarvie has a gentle touch and is great at giving the shots. I barely felt a thing and made going to the dentist a very enjoyable experience.

★★★★★

Dr. Jarvie and his staff are wonderful. I suffered from severe jaw pain from clenching and grinding for years. I saw Dr. Jarvie, and he examined my bite and made some adjustments. He also suggested botox to relax my jaw muscles. I had that treatment and was pain-free within days!

I was thrilled to learn Dr. Jarvie also does botox for cosmetic reasons and have had him doing my forehead and between my eyebrows ever since. I was recently fitted with Invisalign and am very happy with the results so far.

I loved my previous dentist but she was located in Ann Arbor. This office is conveniently located, and they are enjoyable to deal with. Very friendly, kind, efficient, and knowledgeable. Dr. Jarvie is so kind and takes whatever time you need with him.

  • Northville Civic Concern. A service that helps local individuals and families in a variety of ways.
  • Walled Lake School District. He donates time to the district each year.
  • Continuing education. Many hours annually, so that a high level of skill and knowledge is available to his patients — the credential ladder above is the receipt.

Off the Clock

Family. Classic cars.
Golf. Running.

He restores classic automobiles — which, if you think about it, is the same instinct as the day job: something worth keeping, brought carefully back to how it should be.
